Trusted Steam Trap Manufacturer

NTVAL produces durable, precision-engineered Steam Traps that optimize efficiency in managing steam and condensate. Designed for demanding industrial environments, our Steam Traps offer reliable performance and long-term value. Trust NTVAL for quality and innovation.

Reliable Steam Trap

A steam trap is an automatic valve used in steam systems to remove unwanted water (condensate), air, and gases like carbon dioxide (CO₂) while keeping the steam inside. Simply put, it separates water from steam.

Steam traps are essential in power plants because they:

  • Help maintain steam where it’s needed
  • Improve energy efficiency by maximizing heat use

Get More Versatile Valve

How Do Steam Traps Work?

They are designed with:

  • A rolling ball valve
  • Duplex control with thermostatic bellows for automatic air-venting
This makes them perfect for draining large amounts of condensate from steam systems.

Control

Duplex Control

Ideal for automatic air-venting. They feature thermostatic bellows and are great for systems handling large amounts of condensate.

Simplex Control

For systems that don’t need bellows, these traps come with a hand-vent valve. They are suited for cold condensates, distillates, superheated steam, gas, or compressed air lines.

Installation and Features

Steam traps can be installed in both horizontal and vertical lines. Their body has a flanged cover, making it easy to access the control unit without removing the trap from the line.

Optional features include:

  • Float lifting lever
  • Sightglass cover
  • Hand vent valve (for Duplex control traps)

Applications of Steam Traps

Steam traps are commonly used in steam lines to prevent two-phase flow and improve efficiency. Here are some key uses for steam traps:

  • Drip Applications: When steam cools down and starts turning into water (condensate), a steam trap is used to remove this water.
  • Process Applications: In heat exchangers or radiators, steam traps help remove water and air, making the heat transfer process work better.
  • Tracing Applications: Steam traps are used in steam tracing systems to remove water that forms in the pipes during the process.

Specs of Steam Trap

Material Construction

Steam traps are typically constructed from durable materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. These materials provide excellent durability and resistance to corrosion, making them suitable for harsh conditions. Some models, like NTVAL’s Steam Traps, offer special alloy options for enhanced performance in demanding applications.

Connection Types

Steam traps come with various connection types to suit different piping systems. Common connection options include flanged, socket-weld, butt-weld, and threaded ends. This flexibility allows for easy integration into existing systems, achieving compatibility with different industrial standards and requirements. Sounds helpful, right?

Pressure Rating

Steam Traps are typically designed to handle pressure ratings ranging from 0.5 bar (7 psi) to 100 bar (1450 psi), depending on the specific model and application. This range allows the traps to be used in various industrial processes, from low-pressure heating systems to high-pressure steam distribution networks.

Features of Steam Trap

Automatic Air Venting

Steam traps often include an automatic air venting feature that helps remove air from the system, allowing for unobstructed steam flow. Here's the interesting part. This feature is crucial for maintaining efficient heat transfer and preventing air pockets from reducing system performance. Automatic air venting allows the system to reach optimal temperatures quickly.

Backpressure Tolerance

Steam Traps are engineered to tolerate backpressure, which is the resistance against the flow of condensate within the system. This feature allows the Steam Trap to function effectively even in situations where pressure conditions fluctuate, providing consistent performance and preventing potential system disruptions.

Compact Design

The compact design of Steam Traps allows for easy installation in various systems, even where space is limited. It can fit seamlessly into a small boiler room without requiring extensive modifications. This design feature makes them versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications. The compact size also facilitates maintenance, as it is easier to access and service the traps in tight spaces.

Benefits of Steam Trap

Reduced Maintenance Costs

Steam Traps help lower maintenance costs by preventing water hammer and corrosion, which can damage pipes and equipment. Regular operation without issues means fewer repairs and replacements are needed, saving time and money. At NTVAL, our Steam Traps are designed to provide reliable performance with minimal maintenance.

Enhanced Safety

Steam Traps play a critical role in maintaining system safety by preventing the buildup of condensate and air. It efficiently removes water and can prevent pressure build-up that might otherwise cause a pipe to burst. This reduces the risk of water hammering and other pressure-related issues that could lead to equipment failure or accidents.

Extended Equipment Life

By preventing the buildup of condensate and maintaining proper steam flow, Steam Traps help extend the life of the equipment. They reduce the risk of corrosion and mechanical wear, helping equipment last longer and perform better. Investing in quality Steam Traps can lead to significant savings in equipment replacement costs over time.

Applications of Steam Trap

Industrial Heating Systems

Steam traps are commonly used in industrial heating systems, where they efficiently remove condensate from steam lines. By doing so, they help maintain consistent temperatures and improve the overall efficiency of the heating process. This application is crucial in industries such as food processing, textiles, and chemicals. If you are in this industry and looking for high-quality Steam Traps, choose NTVAL.

Heat Exchangers

Steam traps are essential in heat exchangers, where they help maintain optimal heat transfer by removing condensate without losing steam. This application is critical in processes that require precise temperature control, such as in power generation, petroleum refining, and chemical manufacturing.

Steam Distribution Networks

In steam distribution networks, Steam Traps play a vital role in preventing condensate buildup, which can cause blockages and reduce system efficiency. They are installed at various points along the steam lines to remove condensate, maintaning that steam reaches its destination at the desired temperature and pressure.

Hospitals and Sterilization Facilities

In hospitals and sterilization facilities, steam traps are essential for managing steam used in sterilization equipment. They remove condensate from steam lines, maintaining high-quality, dry steam crucial for effective sterilization of medical instruments and equipment. This application supports reliable sterilization processes, helping to maintain the high standards of hygiene and safety required in healthcare environments.

3 Considerations When Buying Steam Trap

01

100°C to 425°C Temperature Range

Confirm that the Steam Trap can handle the specific temperature range your system operates within. For example, if your system runs at high temperatures, selecting a Steam Trap with a 100°C to 425°C range is essential to prevent malfunctions and maintain effective performance over time, avoiding unnecessary downtime.

02

API 6D Certified

Look for Steam Traps that are API 6D certified to meet stringent industry standards for safety, reliability, and performance just like what NTVAL offers. This certification is important because it guarantees that the Steam Trap has been tested and approved for use in critical applications, providing confidence in its durability and effectiveness in various industrial settings.

03

50 kg/h Discharge Capacity

Check the Steam Traps discharge capacity to ensure it aligns with your system’s condensate load. Let me explain. For example, if your system produces around 50 kg/h of condensate, choosing a Steam Traps with this capacity is crucial for efficient condensate removal, preventing issues like water hammer or reduced system efficiency due to condensate buildup.
