Fire-Safe Function

Technical Seating Features
The difference in the area (D1) multiplied by the line pressure creates a “piston effect” that pushes the seat against the ball’s surface. Additionally, the springs behind the seat apply extra force, maintaining a tight seal by keeping the seat in contact with the ball surface.
When the pressure in the body cavity exceeds the spring pressure, the system automatically relieves the excess pressure by allowing it to escape past the downstream seat. This design eliminates the need for a separate body relief valve.
The double block and bleed feature is available in all seat design configurations. When the ball is in the closed position, the body cavity pressure can be reduced to zero by opening the bleed valve and draining the fluid through the drain plug. Each seat operates independently, providing a tight shutoff seal against the ball on both the upstream and downstream sides.

Features of Top Entry Ball Valves
Emergency Seat Seal
Special sealants can be injected into fittings on the adapter flanges to restore sealing integrity if the seat sealing surface is damaged. This feature is particularly useful in situations where downtime needs to be minimized. It allows the valve to continue functioning effectively until a more permanent repair can be made.
Double-Sealed Envelope Connections
Double O-rings or a combination of an O-ring and Fire-Safe gasket on body/bonnet connections provide positive sealing. This dual-sealing mechanism adds an extra layer of safety, preventing leaks even in high-pressure scenarios. It also enhances the overall durability of the valve, reducing the need for frequent maintenance.
Antistatic Device
A spring between the bonnet and the ball permits electrical continuity, enhancing safety. This feature helps prevent static charge build-up, which can be hazardous in certain applications. It contributes to the overall reliability and safety of the valve in potentially explosive environments.
Benefits of Top Entry Ball Valves
Restored Sealing Integrity
The emergency sealant injection system can be utilized in case of emergencies, O-ring damage, or stem leakage, allowing for continuous operation. This capability to quickly restore sealing integrity without disassembling the valve is crucial in maintaining operational efficiency. It minimizes downtime and avoids costly interruptions in critical processes.
Suitable for Various Environments
Double-sealed envelope connections make these valves suitable for both above and below-ground service, offering versatility in application. This adaptability means they can be used in a wide range of industries, from oil and gas to water treatment. On top of that, their strong design supports reliable performance under different environmental conditions.
Smooth Operation
NTVAL recognizes that heavy-duty PTFE-lined bearings eliminate the need for lubricating stem and trunnion journals, resulting in smooth and easy valve operation. This low-maintenance feature reduces the need for frequent lubrication, saving time and resources. It also promotes efficient valve operation with minimal friction and wear.
