What is Lift Check Valve?

Check valves are designed to prevent the reversal of flow in a piping system. These valves are activated by the material flowing through the pipeline.

Fluid pressure opens the valve, while any reversal of flow closes it. Closure can be achieved by the weight of the check mechanism, back pressure, a spring, or a combination of these methods. The main types of check valves include swing, tilting disk, piston, butterfly, and stop check valves.

A lift check valve is commonly used in piping systems where globe valves are employed as flow control valves, as they share similar seating arrangements.

Lift check valves can be installed in horizontal or vertical lines with upward flow. They are recommended for use with steam, air, gas, water, and vapor lines that have high flow velocities.

These valves are available in three body patterns: horizontal, angle, and vertical.
Flow to lift check valves must always enter from below the seat. As the flow enters, the disk or ball is lifted from the seat by the pressure of the upward flow, guided within the valve.

When the flow stops or reverses, the disk or ball is pushed back onto the seat by both the back-flow and gravity, effectively closing the valve.

Some types of lift check valves can be installed horizontally. In these designs, the ball is supported by a system of guide ribs, which is commonly used in plastic check valves.

The seats of metallic body lift check valves are either integral with the body or have renewable seat rings.

The disk construction is similar to that of globe valves, featuring either metal or composition disks.

Metal disks and seats in these valves can be reconditioned using the same techniques as those used for globe valves.
  • Prevents suction line from running empty after pump shutdown, eliminating the need for pump priming before restarting.
  • Spring-loaded design allows installation in almost any position within the piping.
  • Higher head losses compared to swing check valves due to greater flow deflection.
  • Preferred for applications with smaller nominal diameters.

Pressure Ratings
These valves are designed to handle various pressure levels, typically ranging from 150 psi to 1500 psi. This capability makes them suitable for multiple industrial applications, where they prevent backflow and maintain smooth operation in different systems. Their pressure handling provides reliable performance across a range of conditions.

Features of Lift Check Valve

Integration with Existing Systems

Lift Check Valve is designed for easy integration into existing piping systems. Its standard dimensions and versatile installation options allow it to be easily added to current setups without requiring major modifications. This feature is what is loved by manufacturers like NTVAL for providing valves that makes it a convenient choice for upgrades in various industrial applications for their partners.

Non-Return Function

These valve has a non-return function, which means it allows fluid to flow in only one direction. This feature is crucial in preventing backflow, protecting the system from potential damage. It helps maintain the integrity of pipelines and equipment, making it a reliable choice for various applications.

Self-Aligning Disc

The Lift Check Valve features a self-aligning disc that helps maintain a proper seal when the valve is closed. I reseached that this design reduces wear on the valve components and helps maintain consistent performance over time. The self-aligning disc gives a tight seal, preventing leaks and maintaining system integrity.

Benefits of Lift Check Valve

Prevents Backflow

The Lift Check Valves is designed to prevent backflow, protecting the system from potential damage caused by reverse fluid flow. This benefit is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the system, as it helps to avoid contamination and equipment malfunction, making it a reliable choice for many applications.

Reduces Maintenance Costs

With its simple design and durable construction, the Lift Check Valves requires minimal maintenance. This reduces the frequency and cost of repairs, contributing to lower overall operating expenses. The valve's low maintenance requirements make it a cost-effective solution for long-term use in various industries.

Enhances System Efficiency

The Lift Check Valves ability to maintain smooth and consistent fluid flow helps enhance the efficiency of the entire system. By minimizing pressure drop and preventing flow interruptions, the valve supports optimal system performance. This efficiency is particularly valuable in large-scale industrial operations, where maintaining consistent flow rates is essential.

Applications of Lift Check Valve

Oil and Gas Industry

Lift Check Valves are widely used in the oil and gas industry to prevent backflow in pipelines and equipment. They are essential in maintaining the flow of oil, gas, and other fluids, providing safe and efficient operation. The valve’s durability and reliability make it a preferred choice for these demanding applications. So, if you are in this industry and looking for a high-quality Lift Check Valve, consider NTVAL.

Power Generation

In power generation plants, Lift Check Valves are essential for controlling the flow of steam in water systems. They help prevent backflow in wind turbines and boilers, protecting sensitive equipment from damage. This application is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and safety of power plants.

Chemical Processing

These valves are extensively used in chemical processing production industries to handle various fluids and prevent backflow of hazardous chemicals. As a matter of fact, they are compatible with a wide range of chemicals, making them suitable for different processes. This application helps in maintaining safety and efficiency in chemical plants.

Considerations When Buying Lift Check Valve

01

API 607 Certified

Look for Lift Check Valve that is API 607 certified, just like what NTVAL is offering. This certification is crucial because it demonstrates that the valve can withstand fire conditions, offering critical safety and protection in applications involving flammable fluids. It helps prevent leaks or failures during a fire, safeguarding both the system and personnel.

02

Required Flow Rate

When buying a Lift Check Valve, it’s important to confirm that it can handle the specific flow rate required by your system. Let me explain. For example, if your system operates at 10 gallons per minute (GPM), choose a valve designed to accommodate this flow rate. This is crucial to maintaining efficient fluid movement and preventing pressure drops, which could compromise system performance and efficiency.

03

Cv Range (1-10)

When buying a lift check valve, look for a CV range of 1-10. The CV value tells you how much fluid the valve can handle. For example, if your system needs to move a small amount of water without causing a big drop in pressure, a CV range of 1-10 is ideal to keep the flow steady and efficient.

FAQ's

We offer technical support for troubleshooting Lift Check Valve issues and provide guidance on their operation. They can send replacement parts or a new valve if necessary, with repairs or replacements available within the warranty period.
At NTVAL, the average lead time for Lift Check Valve orders varies based on the size and quantity of the valves. Typically, production and delivery take approximately 5 to 8 weeks.
